12 December 2008Case Study: Alamo Drafthouse

Alamo Drafthouse Theatre, Austin Texas, site of rainwater harvesting tank installation

The iconic Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in South Austin is home to a new WATERHARVEST SLIMLINE™ rainwater system. The 1,000 gallon system is the first step in a plan to create a plaza/café area outside the theater.
Rainwater collected from the theater’s roof will be used to irrigate plants in the plaza area. The system features a booster pump which enables watering at pressure in line with that from a traditional mains water hose.

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema was founded by Tim and Karrie League in 1997 and quickly became an important Austin icon. The South Austin location alone attracts 500,000 patrons a year. There are now seven theaters operating under the Alamo banner.
The WATERHARVEST SLIMLINE™ rainwater system is part of The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s approach to environmentally responsible operations.
